PeopleNet: A Mobility Testbed for Real Life Mobile Experiments

OSU PeopleNet is a wireless sensor network infrastructure whose first deployment spans Dreese Labs, home of the CSE department. PeopleNet is based on our open source software and hardware infrastructure for installing and maintaining persistent wireless sensor network applications. Since 2007, it has been populated with an increasing set of people-centric applications. Sensing information of different sorts is collated from over the building, typically over the static array, and is available not only via the web but also via the multi-hop mobile array. Sensing exploits both a mobile device array, consisting of 35 Cellphone-TelosBmote pairs, as well as a larger static device array, consisting of TelosB motes/Stargate gateways.

The PeopleNet environment is available for cloning (we provide an installer kit) with this hardware platform and, with modest porting effort, to diverse hardware platforms. Contact peoplenet@cse.ohio-state.edu.

The PeopleNet project is headed by Prof. Anish Arora.
